olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
large splash red wine
14 oz diced tomatoes (see notes)
Saute garlic in olive oil at low heat until foaming and straw-colored, stirring constantly. Add all other ingredients and simmer until desired consistency, 5-10 minutes.
Jenn invented this pizza sauce. The red wine adds a little extra depth of flavor and color.
Varying the tomato texture—diced, petite diced, or crushed—can give a chunkier or smoother result.
